Roof16 at Novel Coworking | Rooftop Wedding Venue in Denver
A few days ago, I stumbled across a post from someone with a few photos of a rooftop patio right in downtown Denver, advertising it as a new wedding venue. My interest was immediately piqued. COVID is forcing weddings into outside spaces, rooftops seem like a pretty ideal spot to host a small wedding! I have been getting tons of requests for people wanting smaller venues, and off the beaten path venues to host their new downsized weddings. The easy solution seems like outdoor space in national parks or on familiar hiking trails. But, Colorado’s people have been out in parks en masse, and those spaces don’t feel as quiet and magical as they used to. Not to mention the permitting hurdles we have to jump through, and places like Rocky Mountain National Park restricting their weddings year after year. The other glaring issue with parks and hiking trails? Sometimes that’s just not people’s style!! I have been scouring VRBO’s in Denver to find places that are set up for a smallish gathering, but the options are slim.
If Colorado’s mountains aren’t what makes your heart happy when you think about wedding venues—hoooo boy do I have some good news for you. Roof16 is an amazing rooftop in the midst of Denver’s incredible skyscrapers, right off of the iconic 16th Street mall. A clash of wildflowers while you stand surrounded by the city makes this rooftop one of the most magical spaces I have walked into as a photographer. The manicured landscaping is just the beginning, though. The cherry on top is the bright yellow 70’s ski gondola parked on the grass. What a cute place to put your dessert bar, have your sweetheart table, or use for a photo booth! One end of the patio ends in a glass facade that lets you look past the city to the foothills, and the other end takes you into the building, and the modern bar space. The lights inside are these awesome circular LEDs that give the space an edge right when you walk in. The bar itself is that perfect blend of industrial and modern and it’s surrounded by tables with plush velvet chairs. But, not like your grandma’s velvet chairs—the good, trendy, elegant kind of velvet. The coolest seating, though, are the hollowed out plane jet engines that, let’s be real, I really want for my living room.
So, if you’re gagged over the word picture I’m painting, but have one very important question (as any good Coloradoan would have): “what’s my rain backup plan?”
Say hello to the 9th floor of the Novel Coworking building, or your dining room, party dance floor, cocktail hour space, etc etc. I literally cannot wait to see this space decked out in wedding magic. There has never been a space with cooler floor tiles—AND they go up the walls too. The epic lighting from the upstairs bar is continued down here with these amazing asterisk chandeliers. When I first saw the rooftop patio, I had no idea this amazing space was hiding out underneath, and I am just as excited about it as I am about the roof. One of my other favorite venues, Mile High Station, has a similar wrap around balcony, and it is the coolest thing ever for events. Whether you use it for a cocktail hour, or just make your photographer happy by letting them taking artsy shots of you through the lighting, its an amazing area to have! The room has a bunch of private seating rooms that could be used for food stations, different guest activities, or special dining rooms for your VIPs. Y’all, this space literally gives me chills and I am so so so excited to share it with you!! You can use any of the furniture you see in the photos for your event, or opt to move everything out and use it as a blank canvas. The unique venue space is your oyster—and I wanna see what magic you make there. But, I’m rambling again. Here’s photos of the inside space!
I know I am talking your ear off but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Hey, I’m a photographer for a reason. Let’s jump into some photos, shall we?
