St. Vrain Wedding in Longmont
Amazing news! I was a part of The Big Fake Wedding at The St. Vrain in Longmont this year, and we found out a few weeks ago that the photos were going to be published on the Wedding Chicks blog! It’s a huge honor to have been a part of The Big Fake Wedding and to have the photos published. Since the blog features normally only show a few images, I thought I would write a post with a bunch of my favorites from the day as well. We had some truly stunning details, a couple that was totally madly in love with each other, and a smoke bomb send off! What more could you ask for??
Here’s some photos that I took for them right after they opened, before the Big Fake Wedding at the St. Vrain. They’ll give you a better idea of the gorgeous space you’re working with before we get into it all set up for a wedding. It’s better than a virtual tour!!
Photos of the St. Vrain in Longmont
At the Big Fake Wedding, we started off in The St. Vrain’s gorgeous getting ready spaces getting some fun candids and detail photos of the dresses, bouquets, suits, and boutonnieres. The flowers were from this awesome company called Compass Rose Floral that rents wedding florals. They keep a huge stash of all the popular styles of flower, then put something together just for you! If you want to minimize the environmental impact of your wedding flowers, they are an incredible company to work with.
Getting ready photos at the St. Vrain
Doesn’t Tommy have the best smile in the world?? I love how that really genuine grin just lights up his face in his portrait. Their wedding party were a blast to work with and kept the smiles fresh through three rounds of photos and some video. That takes some serious stamina but these guys absolutely pulled it off! How stunning are those baby blue bridesmaid dresses?
wedding portraits at the St. Vrain in Longmont
I was giddy with glee when I found out this stunning blue wall is right next to the St. Vrain! How had I never seen it in any of their wedding images before?? I am a huge sucker for big bold colors that I can play around with, and I just love the way it complements the white and black in Geena + Tommy’s looks.
As well as the blue wall, the area all around the St. Vrain is so beautiful to photograph! I love all of the raw brick facades, street corners, and yep, we even found a fire escape!! I loved that final image of them walking down while they’re smiling all cute at each other. I think it’s my favorite one from their portraits.
Alrighty, get ready. Prepare to have your socks knocked off by the incredible table decor that our floral team, calligraphers, and designers put together. I have never seen such stunning tables in my whole career doing weddings. Each one was so different!!
I gotta give a shout out to my girl Kelli! The runs the Arise Coffee Cart and makes jaw-droppingly good drinks. She kept me caffeinated all day, and is just an amazing human as well. Check her out if you want some scrummy hot drinks at your wedding!
Ceremony photos at the St. Vrain
As you’re scrolling through these gorgeous ceremony images, I want to clear up a little misconception that people might have about The Big Fake Wedding. While we’re saying it’s a “fake” wedding, Geena + Tommy are a real couple who are madly in love. During this ceremony, they renewed their vows to each other. I promise every tear, giggle, and elated smile is 100% real and genuine. Not faked.
On to my absolute favorite part of this day that I was giddy with nerves and excitement over. We did their send-off with SMOKE BOMBS. Seriously, such a cool idea and so much more fun than sparklers (I do love them, but they are hard to photograph and overdone!). But, if you are doing one make sure you get the extra long ones, and make sure that you get the ones that have smoke. That’s what makes for cool photos. Anyway, smoke bombs are rad as hell and I can’t wait for you to see these photos!! The outside of the St. Vrain made for the perfect backdrop, and the urban landscape worked in our favor when it came to fire hazards, haha.
Smoke Bomb Send off Photos at the St. Vrain
I would have fired myself as their photographer if I hadn’t spent some extra time making sure we got some absolutely rad smoke bomb images. I am SO in love with these and hope it inspires other couples to snag some for their big day!!
*Safety Disclosure: Smoke bombs are considered fireworks. Obey fire bans and laws where appropriate, never point them at a person, and hold them three feet away from yourself and others at all times!!*
Thanks for checking out my photos from this amazingly fun day! It was an incredible experience to work with such wonderful vendors and meet so many awesome couples throughout the afternoon.
