Schupe Homestead Wedding in Boulder, Colorado
The first time I met Emma + Taylor, no joke, I thought “you two are like WAY too cool to be hanging out with me.” That was for their engagement session at Brainard Lake in the fall of 2018. They told me they had spent their day hiking around the area and had already been all the way up to the highest lake in the area. Then, the combo of Emma’s amazing hat and Taylor’s cool attitude had me in photo-taking heaven. I couldn’t wait for their wedding day at one of my favorite venues, Schupe Homestead in Boulder!
Emma got ready with the amazing Kim Jundt of Kim J Beauty at the Hilton Garden Inn in Boulder. I love working with Kim for people who just want low key, natural makeup that doesn’t feel or look overwhelming and like “too much.” Hotel rooms, surprisingly, make great getting ready suites because almost all of them have a floor to ceiling window that makes getting natural light a breeze! I loved that Emma had all her close friends wear colorful flowered dresses. They didn’t have a “formal” wedding party, just people they wanted to hang out with them as much as possible during the day. Their pack of bright colors brought me joy every time I saw them in the crowd during the day!
We headed up to Shupe Homestead for Emma to finish getting dressed before their first look. Taylor was already ready to roll in a gorgeous textured blue suit and a blue flowered tie. Loved the style of his look, and his friends who had similarly flowered ties.
Their first look had me in tears, and once I saw how gorgeously Emma’s dress floated and moved I knew I had to take advantage of it. We danced and twirled all through Shupe’s luscious green trees and fields with mountain views!
They had the most beautiful ceremony at Shupe’s stunning tree framed site on their property. Emma’s family are Quakers, and I had never been to a Quaker ceremony before. It was absolutely beautiful, and incorporated a period of silence where the couple just sits and takes in all their guests. It was really amazing to bear witness to it, and the emotions that just existing in the present brought up for people. There was spontaneous laughter, tears, and wonderfully not a cell phone in site.
Emma said toasts (and toast reaction photos) were some of the photos she was looking forward to seeing the most. And, her family did their bit with a few absolutely hilarious speeches about their relationship that were truly wonderful. The dance party was a blast, and the sparkler send off was the cherry on top of an amazing day with these two!! Hope you dig the photos 🙂
