Winter Lionsgate Event Center Wedding

Us photographers here in Colorado see so many weddings during the summer, but almost half our year is spent covered in snow (well maybe not this year). When Sarah and Charlie first contacted me about their Lionsgate Event Center wedding, I was giddy with excitement over the possibility of a winter wedding at one of my favorite venues!! Why is winter exciting? Excellent question… Don’t get me wrong, I love the deep greens and bright blue skies of Colorado summer. But, if you live here, you probably LOVE the fact that we actually get seasons with drastically different weather and moods. I do!! I love the soft diffused light of our winter months. That combined with the dark earthy tones is a dream for the style of editing/work I go for. My winter styled shoot at Milston Well Farm has the same tones and I’m obsessed! Bonus… it’s often like 70 degrees here during the winter!!

I loved Sarah + Charlie’s navy, gold, and green color scheme as well. It fits the colors of the Lionsgate Event Center very well, and the navy was a gorgeous contrast to the golds in the grasses bathed by the sun setting. They’re ceremony was in the stunning Cathedral Basilica of Immaculate Conception in Denver. Charlie’s family wanted them to tie the knot in an official house of worship, and as their guest count climbed, The Barn at Lionsgate wouldn’t fit all their family and friends. But, the Gatehouse made an amazing reception for their venue, and Sarah made sure that most of our photos were still on the Lionsgate Event Center grounds.

When I met Sarah and Charlie for the first time at their engagement session, I was immediately struck by how comfortable they are together. They manage to be giggly, serious, tender, and playful within the space of a minute. They are so much fun to work with and the wedding day was no different. Their families welcomed my second photographer and me immediately as part of the family. I could tell right away that the people surrounding them were just as loving and kind as Sarah and Charlie are themselves.
