Planet Bluegrass Wedding in Lyons, Colorado
Planet Bluegrass will forever be one of my favorite wedding venues in all of Colorado. It just has the best vibes ever and the couples who love it are so wonderful. Laid back, fun, and looking for something a little different from their wedding. I’ve waxed poetic about it on a couple other posts about Colorado wedding venues and Lyons wedding venues, so if you want more, go check those out!
These two had an incredible vision for their wedding. They wanted it to feel like a backyard barbecue in some ways and a crazy dance party in others. I love that Planet Blugrass has a stage in their reception space that lends itself so well to having live music. Gotta love partying all nice to a band rocking out!!
We kicked off the wedding day with Melissa + Gabriel’s “first look.” Melissa was super passionate about making it a “gender equal” first look. She really didn’t want to walk up behind Gabriel and tap his shoulder, or be able to see him before he could see her. I totally related to this and loved that she wanted to do it differently. Her wedding party wound up walking her up (with her eyes closed) to a spot where they could stand fully back to back with one another and spin at the same time to see each other. It was so cute!!!
Their wedding party was so full of fun and was all about just having a good time and getting some fun photos for Melissa + Gabriel! I was all about the jumpsuit that one of Melissa’s friends was wearing too. Bring all the jumpsuits to weddings please. I just got a green velvet jumpsuit for my sister’s wedding in June and I am SO PUMPED about it. And grateful that I have a bamf sister who is letting me rock whatever I want.
My favorite things about a Planet Bluegrass wedding? 1. Portraits against aaaaall the green trees. 2. Portraits near the creek, and 3. Getting that wide shot across the grass with the silo in it. If you saw my other recent Planet Bluegrass wedding, Alex + Jess, you’ll notice I got a similar shot there too. It’s just SO PRETTY. This time though, I noticed how pretty the flowers and vines on some of the buildings are near the reception area, so shook it up a little and did some photos in those areas too. I’m so happy I did! The photo of them giggling together with the orange lilies is one of my favorite photos EVARRRRR.
The closeness of these families, and pervasive fun-loving attitude was obvious when we hit toasts and dancing later in the night. The room was doubled over laughing too hard to breathe for most of the toasts, and the dances were lively and full of fun!! As the night went on, people drifted in and out of the reception hall dancing, sitting by the creek with their feet in the water, or playing some of the many yard games that these two had for their wedding! It was such a perfect evening, and as I’m sitting hear bundled up in a hoodie and slippers at my desk, I’m fantasizing about weather that means I can play outside in the evening again (and sunshine after 4:30pm ABOLISH DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME, haha). I hope you have fun looking through these awesome Planet Bluegrass wedding photos. Drop a comment and tell me what you think!
