Denver Wedding at Coohills Restaurant + Wynkoop Brewery

Whoooooo boy!!! How do I even find the words for this incredible couple and their amazing wedding day?! I met Kate + Christian at a wedding show and we clicked right away. Their laid back vibe plus the fact that they wanted to skip a lot of the wedding traditions meant that we were meant to be! I chatted with Kate a bunch throughout the planning process and could totally relate to their frustration will all things wedding costing way too much money and expecting their wedding to fit into a perfect box. Especially venues!! They were so excited when they decided on Wynkoop Brewery for their reception because they actually have flexible options and aren’t just a wedding factory like so many other spots. We talked about different ceremony sites around Denver, but Kate found the best of them with Coohills Restaurant! I’ve always been obsessed with these bridges that are over the river as you drive into downtown on Speer, but had no idea that you could get married on them if you used the restaurant for a cocktail hour space! Mad props to Kate on digging up this gem. It’s 100% going to be on my referral list for other couples from now on.

We planned a Denver adventure for Kate + Christian’s portraits. We started at Coohills on the bridges, went to Confluence Park for some photos by the water, hit up some cool alleyways and walls, and last but not least, hit the iconic Union Station after their ceremony as the whole wedding party walked from Coohills to Wynkoop Brewery for their reception (can we talk about how fun that is, k thanks). A few months before the wedding, they found out they were moving to Utah, so using all the fun locations for their wedding photos was such a fun way for them to say “ciao” to a city they loved to live in.

They had a friend officiate their ceremony (always my fav, and I love that we can do this in Colorado) and she did an amazing job balancing the laughs and tears. It was the sweetest moment ever when Christian choked up saying his vows to Kate. They were so genuine and heartfelt, I was right there with him (news flash, I’m crying behind my camera at 90% of ceremonies…it’s a great way to hide the tears). To finish off the ceremony, they had the most epic first kiss ever with a flock of birds flying right behind them in the photo. SO MAGICAL!

This was the first wedding I went to after breaking my ankle, and I was just so grateful that I could still be there with them. These two are so real, caring, and wonderful that this day was just a blast!
