Best Farm Wedding Venues in Boulder, Co

I love a good farm wedding!! How can you go wrong combining the joy of a wedding with animals, flower fields, charming vintage vignettes, and a laid back outdoor vibe? I think the farm wedding venues we have in town really capture the essence of a “Colorado wedding.” We are laid back, outdoorsy, and have our own keen sense of style that includes Airstream trailers, Patagonia jackets, and dog leashes made of climbing rope. None of us want to get married in a stuffy ballroom, and we all know what a trek it is to head up I-70 even though the views are worth it. Thank goodness there are a ton of gorgeous farm wedding venues between Boulder, Lyons, and Longmont that embrace the true Colorado wedding spirit!!

Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order, with some of my favorite farmy wedding photos.

Planet Bluegrass

I love this place SO much. I can’t really put it into words, but I’m going to try. The ceremony site backs up to the dizzyingly high red canyon walls of Lyons with the rumbling water right at the base of it. If you’re lucky, a guy on a tube with a pet duck will drift by in the middle of your vows. There are huge arched cottonwoods surrounding the ceremony site and the beach at the edge of the river. You can cook s’mores over the firepit in the evenings and check out the stars. I love the open sided pavilion for the reception, and all the cute houses and buildings scattered across the property. It’s definitely the biggest out of the “farm venues” I have in this post. So, if you want to give your 250 favorite people the amazing Colorado vibes, this is the spot for you!

Riverbend & Lyons Farmette

You can’t put together a list of farm venues and skip the amazing Lyons Farmette! It was one of the first that made the farm style big across the Boulder area, and I love them for it. Like Planet Bluegrass, the Farmette and Riverbend are on the shore of the river that runs through Lyons, and right at the base of the canyon wall. The venues are all beautiful cottonwoods surrounding tents with magical fairy lights strung between them. What could make it any better, you ask? How about the Farmette’s Alpacas, goats, chickens, and fields of home grown flowers?

They put a heavy emphasis on the Farm-to-Table lifestyle, and encourage you to reach out to them in advance to talk about what they can do for your dinner and decorations from the farm.

If mountain views from an adorable homestead are your jam, then this just might be the wedding venue for you! They boast views of Mount Meeker and Longs Peak from the ceremony site, and access to fields behind the property means you can have the front range in the background of all your photos with your partner. The grounds also have an adorable pond surrounded by landscaped flowers, a few different garden areas lit with twinkle lights, and an open ceremony site underneath some gorgeous old trees. They also are one of the few farm venues to have a fully covered and walled in dining/reception area to protect you from the weird and wild Colorado weather. There are adorable seating areas with vintage furniture scattered around the property, and a few cozy areas with chandeliers hanging from the trees. The ambiance there is definitely something special, and the owner takes such amazing care of his people on their wedding day!

Lone Hawk Farm is a working organic farm just outside of Boulder. My favorite part of their grounds is their adorable apple orchard nestled right in the middle of the property. They have a few gorgeous spots for your ceremony, an amazing nordic farmhouse style reception hall, some adorable animals, and views out to the front range from their overlook deck. The grounds on the farm are huge and allow for some fun exploring by your guests, or the two of you taking photos. My other favorite part of this venue is the gorgeous archway covered in vines that is right outside the reception hall.

You can incorporate organic produce from the farm into your catering menu making for an amazing farm-to-table experience. If you want more of that vibe, they also host dinners on the grounds rather than in the reception hall.

Ya Ya farm & Orchard

Another stunning farm venue in along the rural highways between Boulder and Lyons! Ya Ya, like Shupe Homestead, has some truly gorgeous views out to the front range from the ceremony site, and the property is full of mature cottonwood trees. The Ya Ya orchard has a few more rustic touches than the other farm venues we’ve gone over so far. A distressed wood barn and an old tractor are popular photo backdrops, but I love their winery vines and orchard the most! Like Shupe, there are grassy fields behind the property that you can sneak into for some sunset shots during the reception. You can set up your dinner tables under the string lights in the yard, or in the tent, but who doesn’t want a picturesque outdoor dinner? Imagine how magical the property is in the springtime when all of the flowers are blooming in the orchard trees!

There is limited information available on the Ya Ya website about what is included in their wedding packages and what their pricing is, but you can check out their site here: yayafarmandorchard.com

Sarah + Lewis enjoying a moment in one of Pasture of Plenty’s greenhouses—i.e. the moment when all my farm wedding dreams came true.

Pastures of Plenty is a new favorite farm venue of mine. I just recently had the honor of working there for the first time. No joke, halfway through the wedding I texted my partner and said “we messed up by not getting married here.” It has everything that a farm venue needs: fields of growing produce, greenhouses, silos, ivy covered pergolas, cottages, glamping tents, and some of the best vintage styling of any venue I have been to. It was love at first site! The ceremony site has a gorgeous arch surrounded by potted flowers, the cocktail hour garden is full of unique seating areas for all the guests, and dancing happens under the stars! Just in case it rains, there are two large tents with seating for guests as well.

Every detail of this place is curated with such attention to detail that the experience for the guests is absolutely serene and immersive. They have a rustic built in bar, and multiple serving areas for food that are just as charming as the rest of the venue. There’s even a large outdoor oven so the guests can watch and smell their farm-to-table dinner being prepared for them. The catering is in house and you don’t need other options, trust me.

Prices are not listed online, but the rental includes:

  • 10 hours of event time

  • Wait staff, bar service, and outdoor kitchen staff

  • 1,500 sq. ft. tent

  • Getting ready cottage

  • Glamping tent

  • Cut flowers from the venue for decorating tables, dining tables, etc.

  • Bonfire

Kristin + Robby’s fun excursion with one of the farm’s donkeys during their portraits.

The owners of this gem started off just renting a gorgeous cottage on the property as an Airbnb, but then decided to move forward with renting it as a full on venue for weddings as well. The great thing about it? It’s a completely blank slate! You can bring in whatever tents, furniture, yurts, or vintage couches you want to make the venue your own. There are so many different spaces to choose from to host different parts of the event, and move guests around the unique farm spaces. A pen with some friendly donkeys and chickens is right in the center of the venue, so guests can always be crooning at sweet animals as they walk around. Dinner can be hosted in a tent, or under a tree canopy at the back side of the property, or in the gorgeous red barn that has been gutted and turned into an intimate dining space.

They only take limited events per year, so go check it out ASAP!

Check out our published styled shoot from Milston Well Farm!

Venue Price is not listed on the website, but the rental includes:

  • Camper as additional getting ready space

  • Use of the fire pits and firewood
