There’s one thing that’s universally true about dog-people: dogs are our family! To us, it makes perfect sense to include our dogs in our wedding days as flower girls, ring bearers, or just adorable fluff balls. But, if you haven’t noticed already, there aren’t that many venues that allow you to have dogs there, and if they do allow it, not many say it outright on their websites! Who has time to slide into the Instagram DM’s of every venue they are considering. Well, lucky for you, I did some of that work for you and have vetted (see what I did there, because dogs go to the vet) some of the best venues in Colorado based on their dog-friendly wedding policies! And guess what? That doesn’t mean you are just restricted to outdoor venues! Plenty of these places are indoor venues too. Woohoo!
If none of these places are your cup of tea, a lot of my amazing couples include their pups in their engagement sessions if they can’t come to the wedding! So, keep that in mind as an option, too.
Outdoor Dog-Friendly Wedding Venues
Lone Hawk Farm - Boulder, CO
This super spacious farm venue in Boulder is such a good place for pups!! The outdoor ceremony sites are nice and grassy, and there’s plenty of space to run around with them for photos. Unlike some of the other farm venues, your dogs are less likely to encounter other animals (llamas, alpacas, chickens, other dogs) so if that is an issue for your pups, this spot might be a great option!
Evergreen Red Barn - Evergreen, CO
A darling little venue that you can see from the road because of it’s distinctive red coat of paint! The ceremony site is outdoors, but the dogs are even allowed inside to hang out during dinner at this laid-back spot. Every time I’ve been here, I’ve seen a rainbow or had an incredible sunset!
Planet Bluegrass - Lyons, CO
Another outdoor venue with fun dog features like a river, a giant open field for fetch, and an open sided reception pavilion so they won’t feel claustrophobic inside! If I took my pups here, they would just swim in the river all day long! There aren’t any other animals nearby, except for one duck that swims along beside his owner when he tubes down the river. That only happens seasonally though ;)
Shupe Homestead - Boulder, CO
Another charming outdoor farm venue in the Boulder area that allows you to bring your pup! Unlike some of the other spots, I don’t think the owners of Shupe would be too happy about your dog jumping into their gorgeously manicured pond. But, there is still tons of space for them to play, and ceremonies normally happen outdoors. There are some horses on the neighboring properties, so if your dog likes to bork at them, maybe check out one of the other venues instead.
AA Barn - Grand Lake, CO
A laid back picnic site off of a river in Grand Lake, this spot is the perfect mountain playground for your pups! A river runs through the site and there are fields of long grasses for bouncing and running through. The tent for the reception also means that your dog can freely roam asking for table snacks from your guests!
Lyons Farmette and Riverbend - Lyons, CO
The last two of Boulder’s lovely farm venues, these two allow dogs but also have tons of other fun critters on site. Chickens, alpacas, and more hang out on the grounds, so only bring your pup if they are well behaved around animals, big and small. That said, they are some of my favorite venues and offer some adorable charm, gorgeous flowers in the summertime, and amazing views!
Wash Park Boathouse - Denver, CO
If you’ve ever spent much time in Denver’s gorgeous Wash Park, you’ve definitely seen the stunning boathouse that sits on the end of one of the lakes. Turns out, it makes a great wedding venue! It’s available to rent through Denver Parks and Recreation, but they book up super quick for the peak summer dates.
Devil’s Thumb Ranch - Tabernash, CO
This incredible mountain retreat has some of the best views out of any Colorado wedding venue. Their ceremony sites are out of this world, and dogs are welcome to join you when you get married there!
Indoor Dog-Friendly Wedding Venues
Montclair Civic Center - Denver, CO
Another one of Denver’s amazing Parks and Recreation wedding sites, this intimate venue (that means small in wedding speak) allows dogs inside and out! I love the charm that the building itself has, and the trees around the park are so huge since it’s in one of the older areas of Denver. There is a playground in the same park, so maybe not the best spot to let your dog run totally off leash.
Lionsgate Event Center - Lafayette, CO
The Gatehouse and Dovehouse are some of my favorite venues in Colorado. They are packed full of vintage charm, and the ceremony sites are stunning. One of the best dogs ever hung out with some of the most wonderful humans ever on their wedding day there. Before that wedding, I didn’t know they allowed dogs (and I have photographed there SO many times). So, I’m stoked to include them on this list. Beware, there are free roaming chickens that live on the Dovehouse grounds!
Skylight - Denver, CO
I photographed here for the first time in 2018, just after it opened. I love the minimal whitewashed industrial space they have, and when I messaged them today I jumped for joy when they said they allow dogs!! This is one of my favorite venues EVER, so I am pumped to include them in the list. They’re tucked right in the Sante Fe Arts District, so the opportunities for fun, artistic photos are all over.
Space Gallery - Denver, CO
Another gorgeous space in Denver’s art district, Space has a gorgeous minimal vibe but is normally full of colorful art work. You never know what they will have on the walls when you get married, but you have to do way less decorating when your space is already that gorgeous.
Grant Humphrey’s Mansion - Denver, CO
This stunning venue is so pretty inside and out! The house is run by the History Colorado Center which means all those gorgeous vintage elements are perfectly preserved. They usually do ceremonies outside, but there is an indoor option as well. I’m not sure how they feel about puppy paws on their vintage hardwood floors, but they are welcome at outdoor ceremonies!
The Studio Boulder - Boulder, CO
A clean, modern, industrial space in Boulder that allows dogs?! What more could you want? Definitely check out this little spot if you’re getting married outside of Denver but want that industrial chic vibe.
Hamill House - Georgetown, CO
Can you tell I love historic house wedding venues?? Well, here’s another one. Hamill House is in Georgetown, which means it’s just far enough up I-70 that you feel like you’re on a mountain getaway, without being 200 miles from Denver. What more could you want! Check out this spot if you want those mountain vintage vibes.
Hotel Colorado - Glenwood Springs, CO
I have a weird obsession with Glenwood Springs. One of my favorite restaurants of all time is there, my favorite jewelry store (and I’m not a jewelry person) is there, and the little town is just so precious. My mom, sister, and I took a little staycation at the Hotel Colorado a few years ago, and the first thing I noticed? Dogs. Everywhere. You wouldn’t expect it from such a gorgeous, high-end hotel, but they love their pups. So, this one is finishing the list of the best dog friendly wedding venues in Colorado. You can’t go wrong if you want an amazing mountain getaway.
I’ll continue updating this list as I find more venues that are dog-friendly in Colorado, but if you know of any that I missed, comment below! I’ll do some research and add them if they need to be part of the list.
If you are having your dog at your wedding and want to make sure your photographer will take amazing photos of them during the day…Oh, hi there. I’m Kate and I’m obsessed with your dog.
